Job Description

  1. Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop appropriate perfusion plans for each patient, taking into consideration their medical history, current condition, and surgical procedure.
  2. Operate and monitor heart-lung machines and other related equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring proper function and adjusting as needed.
  3. Administer and monitor blood products, medications, and other solutions during procedures to maintain appropriate levels and prevent complications.
  4. Maintain accurate and thorough records of patient information, perfusion procedures, and equipment usage.
  5. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care during procedures.
  6. Troubleshoot and respond to any equipment malfunctions or other emergencies during procedures.
  7. Continuously monitor patient vital signs, blood gases, and other parameters to ensure safe and effective perfusion.
  8. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a sterile environment throughout procedures.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staying up-to-date on new techniques and technologies in the field of perfusion.
  10. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding perfusion procedures and post-operative care.
  11. Adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients before, during, and after procedures.
  13. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity towards patients and their families.
  14. Remain calm and composed under pressure, adapting to changing situations and performing effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment.
  15. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and regulatory requirements.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Technology Or Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification By The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Perfusionist In A Hospital Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Cardiac And Pulmonary Physiology, As Well As Current Perfusion Techniques And Equipment.

  • Ability To Work Well Under Pressure And In A Fast-Paced Environment, With Excellent Critical Thinking And Decision-Making Skills.
