- Mentor and train new and current medical assistants within the Kettering Health Network.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure consistent and high-quality care is provided by medical assistants.
- Create lesson plans and educational materials to support the training program.
- Conduct hands-on training sessions and provide feedback to students to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Evaluate the performance of medical assisting students and provide guidance for improvement.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the training program meets industry standards and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with current medical assisting practices and procedures to provide relevant and accurate training.
- Provide support and guidance to students through their clinical experiences.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and management to ensure the success of the training program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new medical assisting students.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the medical assisting curriculum.

Extensive Medical Assisting Experience: The Ideal Candidate For A Medical Assisting Preceptor Job At Kettering Health Network Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working As A Medical Assistant In A Clinical Setting. This Experience Should Include A Diverse Range Of Duties And Responsibilities, As Well As Experience Working With Electronic Medical Records.
Strong Leadership Skills: As A Preceptor, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Mentoring And Training New Medical Assistants. Therefore, They Should Possess Excellent Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Communicate And Teach New Skills And Procedures To Others.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Medical Assisting Procedures: A Successful Medical Assisting Preceptor Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of All Aspects Of Medical Assisting, Including Clinical And Administrative Duties. This Includes Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Proficiency In Performing Procedures Such As Venipuncture And Administering Medications.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills: The Preceptor Will Be Interacting With A Variety Of Individuals, Including Students, New Employees, And Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary To Build Positive Relationships, Provide Feedback, And Work Collaboratively With Others.
Current Certification And Continuing Education: Kettering Health Network Requires All Medical Assisting Preceptors To Be Currently Certified As A Medical Assistant Through An Accredited Organization Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama). Additionally, Candidates Should Have A Commitment To Continuing Education And Staying Updated On The Latest Medical Assisting Practices And Procedures.
