- Provide administrative support to the nursing unit by managing and organizing patient records, scheduling appointments, and maintaining communication with other departments.
- Assist patients and their families by answering questions, providing information, and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the nursing unit.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for the unit, and place orders as needed.
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff to relay important information and updates.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and maintain unit cleanliness and organization, including restocking supplies and ensuring equipment is in good working condition.
- Assist with patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, obtaining specimens, and performing basic medical procedures under the direction of a nurse or physician.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities to stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Proactively identify and address any potential issues or concerns that may impact patient care or the overall functioning of the unit.
- Act as a positive representative of Kettering Health Network, promoting a welcoming and compassionate environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Requirement For This Position Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And The Ability To Follow Instructions And Complete Tasks.
Medical Terminology Knowledge: Health Unit Coordinators Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology In Order To Accurately Transcribe And Interpret Physician Orders, Patient Information, And Medical Records.
Computer Skills: In Today's Digital Age, It Is Essential For Health Unit Coordinators To Be Proficient In Using Computers And Electronic Health Record Systems. This Includes Knowledge Of Word Processing And Spreadsheet Software, As Well As The Ability To Learn New Software Programs.
Organizational Skills: Health Unit Coordinators Are Responsible For Managing The Administrative Tasks Of A Healthcare Unit, Including Scheduling Appointments, Maintaining Patient Records, And Coordinating Communication Between Healthcare Staff. They Must Have Excellent Organizational Skills To Ensure All Tasks Are Completed Accurately And In A Timely Manner.
