As a GI Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians during endoscopic procedures and providing quality patient care.   1. Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by preparing equipment, setting up procedure rooms, and positioning patients for procedures.
  2. Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures by monitoring vital signs, providing emotional support, and responding to any emergencies.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing equipment and restocking supplies.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality patient care and ensure smooth workflow.
  5. Document and report any changes in patient condition or response to procedures.
  6. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on new techniques and procedures.
  7. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  9. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling procedures, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies.
  10. Continuously strive to improve skills and knowledge by seeking out opportunities for professional development.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Gi Technician: Candidates Should Have Completed A Certified Gi Technician Program And Hold A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm).

  • Experience In Endoscopy: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In An Endoscopy Setting Is Typically Required For This Position. Candidates Should Be Familiar With The Equipment And Procedures Commonly Used In Endoscopy, Such As Colonoscopies, Gastroscopies, And Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (Ercp).

  • Knowledge Of Infection Control: Gi Technicians Are Responsible For Ensuring That All Equipment And Instruments Used In Endoscopy Procedures Are Properly Sterilized And Maintained. Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Infection Control Protocols And Procedures To Minimize The Risk Of Infections And Cross-Contamination.

  • Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Gi Technician Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Accuracy. Candidates Should Be Able To Follow Strict Procedures And Guidelines, Perform Tasks Quickly And Efficiently, And Maintain A Safe And Organized Work Environment.

  • Communication And Teamwork Skills: As Part Of The Endoscopy Team, Gi Technicians Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively And Work Collaboratively With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Other Technicians. Candidates Should Also Be Empathetic And Able To Provide Emotional Support To Patients During Procedures.
