- Assist with Endoscopic Procedures: The GI Technician will be responsible for assisting with endoscopic procedures by preparing equipment, setting up the procedure room, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for the procedure.
- Maintain Equipment: The GI Technician will be responsible for maintaining endoscopic equipment, including cleaning, sterilizing, and storing equipment properly to ensure it is in good working condition for each procedure.
- Ensure Patient Comfort: The GI Technician will be responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during procedures by monitoring vital signs, providing emotional support, and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Monitor and Document: The GI Technician will be responsible for monitoring patients during procedures and documenting vital signs, patient reactions, and any other pertinent information for the medical team.
- Assist with Patient Preparation: The GI Technician will be responsible for assisting with patient preparation for procedures, including administering medications, positioning the patient, and monitoring patient readiness for the procedure.
- Collaborate with Medical Team: The GI Technician will work closely with the medical team, including physicians, nurses, and other technicians, to ensure a smooth and efficient procedure.
- Maintain Sterile Environment: The GI Technician will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment in the procedure room by following proper infection control protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Troubleshoot Equipment: In the event of equipment malfunctions, the GI Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and making minor repairs or contacting the appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: The GI Technician will be responsible for adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and themselves.
- Attend Trainings and Professional Development: The GI Technician will be responsible for attending trainings and continuing education opportunities to stay updated on best practices and advancements in endoscopic procedures and equipment.
Certification As A Gi Technician: Candidates For The Gi Technician, Endoscopy Job At Kettering Health Network Should Possess A Current Certification As A Gi Technician From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society Of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Asge).
Experience In Endoscopy Procedures: A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In An Endoscopy Setting Is Preferred. Candidates Should Be Familiar With A Wide Range Of Endoscopy Procedures, Including Colonoscopies, Upper Gi Endoscopies, And Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (Ercp).
Knowledge Of Endoscopy Equipment And Maintenance: The Gi Technician, Endoscopy Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Endoscopy Equipment And Be Able To Troubleshoot Technical Issues As Needed. They Should Also Be Responsible For The Cleaning, Disinfecting, And Maintenance Of All Endoscopy Equipment.
Excellent Attention To Detail: The Ability To Pay Close Attention To Detail Is Crucial For A Gi Technician, As They Are Responsible For Ensuring All Equipment Is Properly Sterilized And Set Up For Procedures. They Must Also Be Vigilant In Monitoring Patient Vitals And Documenting Any Changes Or Concerns During Procedures.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Gi Technician, Endoscopy Will Work Closely With A Team Of Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively Are Essential For Providing Quality Patient Care In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
