  1. Accurately code outpatient medical records according to established guidelines and procedures.
  2. Review and analyze medical records to ensure appropriate coding and documentation.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify coding and documentation discrepancies.
  4. Stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and changes in healthcare regulations.
  5. Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity in coding processes.
  6. Ensure compliance with all relevant coding and documentation standards.
  7. Participate in departmental coding audits to identify and address areas for improvement.
  8. Communicate coding updates and changes to relevant healthcare staff.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient information.
  10. Serve as a resource for coding-related inquiries and provide education and training as needed.
  11. Identify and report potential coding and documentation issues to management.
  12. Assist with other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  13. Promote a positive and professional image of the organization to patients, staff, and external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Coding Credentials: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have A Current And Valid Certified Coding Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As Ahima Or Aapc. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Thorough Understanding Of Coding Guidelines And Regulations.

  • Knowledge Of Hims And Op Coding: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Health Information Management Systems (Hims) And Outpatient (Op) Coding Processes. This Includes Knowledge Of Cpt, Hcpcs, And Icd-10 Coding Systems.

  • Experience In Hospital Setting: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Hospital Setting Is Preferred For This Position. This Experience Should Include Coding For A Variety Of Specialties And Familiarity With Electronic Health Records (Ehrs).

  • Attention To Detail: The Job Of A Coder Certified - Hims Op Coding Requires A High Level Of Accuracy And Attention To Detail. The Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Consistently Producing Error-Free Coding And Maintaining A High Level Of Productivity.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medicare, Medicaid, And Third-Party Payer Regulations And Guidelines. This Includes Knowledge Of Coding And Billing Compliance, As Well As Familiarity With The National Correct Coding Initiative (Ncci) And Other Regulatory Requirements.
