- Ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff at Johns Hopkins University during day shift.
- Uphold and enforce all laws and regulations on campus, including but not limited to traffic laws, drug laws, and university policies.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents on campus, taking appropriate action to resolve the situation and protect individuals.
- Conduct regular patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking lots to detect and prevent potential security threats.
- Monitor and investigate suspicious activities or behavior, and report any findings to the appropriate authorities.
- Communicate effectively with university officials, law enforcement agencies, and other first responders in emergency situations.
- Provide support and assistance to individuals in need, including medical emergencies, lost individuals, and other safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate and thorough reports of all incidents, accidents, and other activities while on duty.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with law enforcement procedures and techniques.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service skills when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and members of the public.
- Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the university, promoting a safe and inclusive campus environment.
- Adhere to all departmental and university policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and departments as needed to ensure overall campus safety and security.
- Continuously assess and analyze potential security risks on campus, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or other university officials.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Law Enforcement Or Security, Preferably In A University Or Academic Setting.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent, With Additional Training Or Education In Law Enforcement Or Criminal Justice Preferred.
Ability To Obtain And Maintain Certification As A Special Police Officer In The State Of Maryland.
Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Interact Professionally With Students, Faculty, Staff, And Visitors.
Demonstrated Knowledge Of And Ability To Enforce Federal, State, And Local Laws, As Well As University Policies And Procedures.
