As a Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as protecting the university's assets.   1. Monitor and patrol the university campus during evening hours to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Respond promptly and appropriately to any security incidents or emergencies, such as medical situations, fires, or criminal activity.
  3. Conduct thorough and regular checks of all campus buildings, including classrooms, offices, and residence halls, to identify and report any security risks or breaches.
  4. Enforce university policies and procedures related to safety and security, including access control and parking regulations.
  5. Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary to handle security incidents.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed logs and reports of all security activities and incidents.
  7. Monitor security cameras and other surveillance equipment to detect and respond to any suspicious activity.
  8. Provide exceptional customer service to all members of the Johns Hopkins community, including visitors and guests.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in security and emergency response.
  10. Continuously assess and improve security protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of the university community.
  11. Serve as a visible and approachable presence on campus to help deter potential security threats and foster a sense of safety and trust among the community.
  12. Act as a first responder in emergency situations and provide initial medical assistance, if needed, until professional medical help arrives.
  13. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions and situations.
  14. Attend regular meetings and communicate effectively with other members of the security team and university staff.
  15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the university's values and mission of creating a safe and secure environment for the Johns Hopkins community.

Job Qualifications
  • Prior Experience In Security: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Security, Preferably In A University Or Large Institutional Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Emergency Procedures: The Candidate Should Possess Knowledge Of Emergency Protocols And Procedures, Including Fire Safety, Medical Emergencies, And Natural Disasters.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role As The Security Officer Will Be Required To Interact With Students, Staff, And Visitors On A Daily Basis.

  • Physical Fitness And Agility: The Role Of A Security Officer Often Involves Patrolling The Campus On Foot, Standing For Extended Periods, And Responding To Emergencies. Therefore, Candidates Must Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform These Tasks Effectively.

  • Ability To Work Evening Shifts: This Position Requires Candidates To Work Evening Shifts, Typically Starting After 5 Pm And Ending Around Midnight. Candidates Must Be Available To Work During These Hours And Have A Flexible Schedule To Accommodate Changes If Needed.
