As a Residence Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping the living and learning environment for our students. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team and help create a welcoming and supportive community for our students. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop programming, supervise student staff, and serve as a mentor and resource for our residents. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, and a genuine interest in student development.   1. Develop and implement engaging and inclusive programming for residential students.
  2. Supervise and train a team of student staff, including Resident Assistants and Community Assistants.
  3. Foster a supportive and welcoming community for residential students.
  4. Serve as a mentor and resource for students, providing guidance and support as needed.
  5. Create and maintain a safe and inclusive living environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Collaborate with campus partners to provide resources and support for students.
  7. Facilitate conflict resolution and address any student concerns or issues in a timely and effective manner.
  8. Manage the budget for residence hall programming and events.
  9. Enforce university policies and procedures for residential students.
  10. Serve as a role model and uphold the values and mission of Johns Hopkins University.
  11. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in student affairs and residence life.
  12. Communicate regularly with residential students and their families to provide updates and address any concerns.
  13. Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to ensure the success and effectiveness of residential programs and initiatives.
  14. Stay current on trends and best practices in student development and residence life.
  15. Represent the university and the residence life department at campus events and meetings.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Higher Education, Counseling, Or Student Affairs.

  • At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Residential Life Or Student Affairs, Preferably In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role.

  • Knowledge Of And Experience With Student Development Theory, Crisis Management, And Conflict Resolution.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Populations Including Students, Staff, And Faculty.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Manage Budgets, Develop And Implement Programs, And Supervise A Team Of Resident Assistants.
