High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For The Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Position At Johns Hopkins University.
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa) Or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (Cot) Credential: Candidates With Coa Or Cot Certification From The Joint Commission On Allied Health Personnel In Ophthalmology (Jcahpo) Will Be Given Preference.
Prior Experience In Ophthalmology: Candidates With Prior Experience Working In An Ophthalmology Setting Will Be Preferred. This Experience Can Include Working As A Technician, Assistant, Or Scribe In An Ophthalmology Practice Or Hospital.
Knowledge Of Ophthalmic Equipment And Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Will Have Knowledge Of Ophthalmic Equipment And Procedures Such As Tonometry, Visual Acuity Testing, And Visual Field Testing. Familiarity With Various Ophthalmic Imaging Techniques, Such As Oct And Fundus Photography, Is Also Desirable.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Will Be Responsible For Interacting With Patients, Physicians, And Other Staff Members. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role. Additionally, The Ability To Work Well In A Team Setting And Handle Any Challenging Situations Is Also Important.
