- Collaborate with various departments, organizations, and community partners to effectively promote and implement suicide prevention initiatives.
- Lead and manage a team of outreach coordinators and volunteers to ensure successful execution of outreach initiatives.
- Conduct research and stay updated on current trends and best practices in suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community members, to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for mental health and suicide prevention.
- Plan and coordinate events, workshops, and trainings to educate and engage the university community in suicide prevention efforts.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of outreach strategies and make necessary adjustments to improve impact and reach.
- Develop and maintain resources and materials related to suicide prevention and mental health awareness for distribution to the university community.
- Serve as a spokesperson for suicide prevention initiatives and represent the university at conferences and events related to mental health and suicide prevention.
- Collaborate with the university's counseling center and other mental health resources to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to suicide prevention.
- Monitor and maintain budgets and resources allocated to outreach efforts.
- Provide support and guidance to individuals and groups who may be struggling with mental health concerns or have been affected by suicide.
- Stay informed on relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to suicide prevention and mental health to ensure compliance and adherence.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Regularly report on outreach efforts and outcomes to university administration and stakeholders.
Advanced Degree In Mental Health Or Public Health: A Director Of Outreach For Suicide Prevention Initiatives At Johns Hopkins University Should Possess An Advanced Degree In A Related Field Such As Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Or Public Health. This Educational Background Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Understanding Of Mental Health Issues And The Ability To Design Effective Outreach Programs.
Experience In Suicide Prevention: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Working With Suicide Prevention Initiatives. This Experience Should Include Program Development, Implementation, And Evaluation, As Well As Direct Work With Individuals Struggling With Suicidal Thoughts And Behaviors.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Director Of Outreach Will Be Responsible For Collaborating And Communicating With Various Departments, Stakeholders, And Community Organizations. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Effectively Promoting And Implementing Suicide Prevention Initiatives.
Leadership And Management Experience: This Role Requires Strong Leadership And Management Skills To Oversee And Coordinate Outreach Programs And Initiatives. Previous Experience In A Leadership Role, Including Managing A Team, Creating Budgets, And Developing Strategic Plans, Is Necessary For Success In This Position.
Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Practices: The Director Of Outreach Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Evidence-Based Practices In Suicide Prevention.
