  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the Department of Medicine in alignment with the overall goals and mission of Johns Hopkins University.
  2. Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors, including alumni, foundations, corporations, and other key stakeholders.
  3. Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities to support the department's programs, initiatives, and research projects.
  4. Collaborate with department faculty, staff, and leadership to identify funding needs and priorities, and assist in crafting compelling cases for support.
  5. Plan and execute various fundraising events and campaigns, leveraging existing networks and resources to maximize results.
  6. Utilize data and analytics to track progress, identify trends, and make informed decisions to optimize fundraising efforts.
  7. Collaborate with the university's central development team to ensure coordination and alignment with overall fundraising goals and strategies.
  8. Lead and manage a team of development professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to achieve fundraising targets.
  9. Ensure compliance with all university policies and procedures related to fundraising and donor stewardship.
  10. Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in development and fundraising, and implement innovative strategies to enhance donor engagement and giving.
  11. Represent the Department of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University in external events and meetings to promote our mission and solicit support.
  12. Maintain accurate and detailed records of donor interactions, gifts, and pledges in the university's donor database.
  13. Collaborate with other departments within the university to identify potential cross-collaboration opportunities and leverage resources.
  14. Continually evaluate and assess the success of fundraising efforts, and provide regular reports to department leadership and university administration.
  15. Uphold the values and principles of Johns Hopkins University, and act as an ambassador for the institution and the Department of Medicine.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Fundraising: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Fundraising, Preferably In A Development Role At A University Or Medical Institution.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Development: A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Opportunities In Medical Development, Including Major Gifts, Planned Giving, And Donor Stewardship, Is Crucial For Success In This Role.

  • Leadership Skills: As A Director Of Development, The Candidate Must Have Excellent Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage A Team Of Development Professionals And Work Collaboratively With Other Departments.

  • Strategic Thinking: The Candidate Should Possess Strong Strategic Thinking Abilities, With A Proven Track Record Of Developing And Implementing Successful Fundraising Plans To Achieve Fundraising Goals.

  • Relationship Building: The Candidate Should Have A Proven Ability To Build And Maintain Relationships With Donors, Alumni, Faculty, And Other Key Stakeholders To Support The Department's Fundraising Priorities. This Includes Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
