- Manage and oversee the processing of Congressional papers, ensuring they are organized, preserved, and accessible according to archival principles and practices.
- Develop and implement processing plans and procedures for the efficient and accurate organization of the Congressional papers collection.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis on the historical significance and context of the Congressional papers collection.
- Collaborate with other archivists and team members to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the collection.
- Create detailed finding aids and metadata to enhance the discoverability and accessibility of the Congressional papers.
- Ensure the proper storage and handling of the Congressional papers to prevent damage and deterioration.
- Implement preservation strategies and techniques to protect the collection from environmental and physical hazards.
- Stay up-to-date with current best practices and trends in archival processing, preservation, and access.
- Provide assistance and guidance to researchers and scholars accessing the collection.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital archives for the Congressional papers collection.
- Coordinate and manage special projects related to the Congressional papers, such as exhibits and digitization initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of processing activities and collections management.
- Train and supervise interns, volunteers, and staff members involved in the processing and preservation of the Congressional papers.
- Collaborate with donors and external partners to acquire and process new additions to the Congressional papers collection.
- Uphold the mission and values of Johns Hopkins University in all aspects of the role.
Excellent Organizational And Time Management Skills, With The Ability To Prioritize Tasks And Meet Deadlines.
A Master's Degree In Library And Information Science Or A Related Field.
At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Archival Processing, Preferably With Congressional Papers.
Familiarity With Archival Standards And Best Practices, Such As Dacs And Ead.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Collaborate With Colleagues And Communicate Effectively With Donors And Researchers.
