  1. Accurately and efficiently code medical records using current coding guidelines and standards.
  2. Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding.
  3. Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding.
  4. Stay updated on coding guidelines and regulations and incorporate them into daily coding practices.
  5. Utilize electronic health record systems and coding software to accurately code medical records.
  6. Collaborate with other team members to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure consistency in coding practices.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  8. Participate in coding audits and provide feedback for process improvement.
  9. Train and mentor new coding specialists on coding guidelines and software systems.
  10. Work closely with billing and reimbursement teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of coded claims.
  11. Identify and report any coding errors or issues to management.
  12. Assist with special projects as assigned by supervisors.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of coding.
  14. Uphold the values and mission of Johns Hopkins University in all job duties.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field

  • Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit) Certification

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Coding Experience In A Healthcare Setting

  • Proficiency In Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems

  • Knowledge Of Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems And Experience With Coding Software Such As 3M Or Epic
