- Conduct patient intake interviews and obtain relevant medical history.
- Perform various diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and visual field testing.
- Assist ophthalmologists in performing specialized procedures, such as administering eye drops and measuring intraocular pressure.
- Prepare patients for surgery and provide pre-operative instructions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and post-operative instructions.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and medications.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Follow department protocols and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in ophthalmology.
Certification As A Certified Ophthalmic Technician (Cot) Or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa) From The Joint Commission On Allied Health Personnel In Ophthalmology (Jcahpo).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As An Ophthalmic Technician In A Clinical Setting.
Knowledge Of Ophthalmic Equipment And Procedures, Including Visual Field Testing, Oct, And Fundus Photography.
Proficiency In Electronic Medical Record Systems, Preferably Epic.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Patients, Physicians, And Other Medical Professionals.
