Welcome to the Primate Division at Johns Hopkins University, where we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and enrichment for our diverse primate population. As an Assistant Primate Keeper, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with our team of experienced keepers and provide hands-on care for our primates.   1. Provide daily care and enrichment for a diverse population of primates.
  2. Work closely with the team of experienced keepers to ensure high-quality care for all primates.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe environment for the primates.
  4. Monitor the health and behavior of the primates and report any concerns to senior staff.
  5. Assist with the preparation and distribution of diets for the primates.
  6. Administer medications and assist with medical procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  7. Conduct regular observations and behavioral assessments of the primates.
  8. Assist with the training and socialization of primates to promote their physical and mental well-being.
  9. Keep detailed records of daily activities and observations.
  10. Help with the maintenance of primate enclosures and equipment.
  11. Participate in educational programs and public presentations to raise awareness about primate conservation and care.
  12. Stay up-to-date with industry standards and advancements in primate care.
  13. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  14. Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  15. Maintain a professional and respectful attitude towards all team members and visitors.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Biology, Zoology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Experience Working With Primates In A Zoo Or Research Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Primate Behavior, Nutrition, And Enrichment Techniques.

  • Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team In A Fast-Paced And Physically Demanding Environment.

  • Excellent Communication Skills And A Commitment To Animal Welfare And Conservation.
