Job Description

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Trauma and Burn Data Abstractor. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining trauma and burn-related data from patient records. You will also be tasked with assessing the accuracy and completeness of data to ensure that data is up-to-date and meets the necessary quality standards. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well independently. We require a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field, and a minimum of three years’ experience in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding is also a must. Previous experience in abstracting trauma and burn data is a plus. Responsibilities:

  1. Collect, analyze, and maintain trauma and burn-related data from patient records.
  2. Assess the accuracy and completeness of data to ensure that data is up-to-date and meets the necessary quality standards.
  3. Utilize medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.
  4. Monitor and maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  5. Generate reports and other documentation as needed.
  6. Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks as needed.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  8. Identify and troubleshoot data issues.
  9. Research and develop new protocols and procedures for data abstraction.
  10. Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices.
