  1. Oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management department, ensuring efficient and accurate documentation processes.
  2. Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, including HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  3. Implement best practices to improve workflow and quality within the department.
  4. Monitor and analyze department metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  6. Manage and develop a team of HIM professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  7. Stay current on industry trends and changes in regulations related to Health Information Management.
  8. Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure seamless integration and communication.
  9. Implement and enforce policies and procedures to maintain the security and confidentiality of patient information.
  10. Prepare and present reports on department performance and initiatives to senior leadership.
  11. Collaborate with IT department to ensure proper functioning of electronic health record systems and other technology used in HIM operations.
  12. Participate in hiring and training of new employees in the HIM department.
  13. Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records.
  14. Serve as a liaison between the HIM department and other departments within the organization.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement and efficiency within the department.

Job Qualifications
  • Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field: A Site Supervisor For Him Operations At Johns Hopkins Medicine Must Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or A Related Field Such As Healthcare Administration Or Business Administration. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Managing Health Information.

  • Certification In Health Information Management: Candidates Must Hold A Certification From The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima) As A Registered Health Information Administrator (Rhia) Or Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit). This Certification Demonstrates Knowledge And Competency In Managing Health Information Systems, Privacy And Security, Data Analysis, And Legal Aspects Of Health Information.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Him Operations: A Qualified Candidate For The Site Supervisor Position Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role In Him Operations. This Experience Should Include Managing Staff, Overseeing The Coding And Release Of Health Information, And Ensuring Compliance With Regulations And Policies.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Policies: A Site Supervisor Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations Such As Hipaa, Hitech, And Medicare/Medicaid, As Well As Knowledge Of Joint Commission Standards. This Knowledge Is Essential In Ensuring The Organization's Compliance And Proper Handling Of Health Information.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: A Successful Site Supervisor Must Possess Strong Communication And Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage A Team And Collaborate With Other Departments. This Includes The Ability To Provide Clear Instructions, Give Constructive Feedback, And Handle Conflicts In A Professional Manner. Additionally, The Candidate Must Be Able To Adapt To Changing Situations And Prioritize Tasks To Meet Deadlines.
