- Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients in the OB/Perinatal department, including expectant mothers and newborns.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Monitor and assess patients' physical and emotional well-being, recognizing and responding to any changes or complications.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Educate patients and their families on prenatal and postpartum care, including breastfeeding, infant care, and safety precautions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting all care provided and any changes in condition.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, communicating their needs and concerns to the healthcare team.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and advancements in obstetrics and perinatal care.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn): Candidates For This Position Should Possess A Bsn From An Accredited University Or College. This Degree Provides In-Depth Knowledge And Skills In Nursing Practice, Research, And Leadership, Which Are Essential For The Specialized Role Of A Registered Nurse - Ob/Perinatal.
Licensure As A Registered Nurse (Rn): Applicants Must Hold A Current, Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Maryland. This Ensures That They Have Met All The Necessary Requirements And Have The Legal Authority To Practice Nursing.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Ob/Perinatal Nursing Experience: Candidates Must Have At Least 2 Years Of Recent Experience Working As A Registered Nurse In An Ob/Perinatal Setting. This Experience Should Include Caring For Patients During Pregnancy, Labor And Delivery, And Postpartum.
Bls And Nrp Certifications: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications Are Required For This Position. These Certifications Demonstrate The Candidate's Competency In Providing Emergency Care And Resuscitation To Newborns And Mothers.
Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse - Ob/Perinatal, Effective Communication And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential For Providing Quality Care To Patients And Collaborating With A Multidisciplinary Team.
