Job Description

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a PRN Inpatient Oncology Nurse. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional care to our Oncology patients and possess the qualifications and personal traits necessary to excel in this role. The PRN Inpatient Oncology Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to Oncology patients with the goal of meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.The successful candidate will possess a Registered Nurse (RN) license from the State of Maryland, a minimum of two years of experience in Oncology, and a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Additionally, they must have superior communication and organizational skills, a strong commitment to patient safety, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to Oncology patients, meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  3. Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and reactions to medications and treatments.
  4. Educate patients and family members about their diagnosis, medications, and treatment plans.
  5. Document patient care and progress in medical records.
  6. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
  7. Ensure patient safety by adhering to safety protocols and policies.
  8. Provide emotional support to patients and family members.
  9. Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges.
  10. Remain up to date with the latest Oncology developments and treatments.
