Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Peer Recovery Coach. In this role, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of patients by providing support, guidance, and resources to help them achieve and maintain sobriety. We are looking for someone who is committed to making a positive difference and has a deep understanding of the challenges and triumphs of recovery. To be successful in this position, you must have a strong knowledge of recovery principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   1. Provide one-on-one support to patients in their journey towards recovery.
  2. Utilize personal experience with overcoming addiction to empathize with and support patients.
  3. Collaborate with treatment team to develop and implement individualized recovery plans.
  4. Educate patients on recovery principles and practices.
  5. Serve as a role model for patients by demonstrating successful recovery and maintaining sobriety.
  6. Connect patients with community resources and support groups.
  7. Advocate for patients and their recovery needs.
  8. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions with patients.
  9. Attend regular training and development sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and treatment team members.
  11. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary.
  12. Document patient progress and any concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
  13. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
  14. Remain up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of addiction recovery.
  15. Adhere to ethical standards and code of conduct for peer recovery coaches.
  16. Continuously evaluate and improve upon the effectiveness of the peer recovery coaching program.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Peer Recovery Coaching: Candidates Must Have Completed A Certified Training Program In Peer Recovery Coaching. This Ensures That The Individual Has The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Support Individuals In Their Recovery Journey.

  • Lived Experience Of Addiction And Recovery: A Key Qualification For A Peer Recovery Coach At Johns Hopkins Medicine Is Personal Experience With Addiction And Recovery. This Allows The Coach To Empathize With Patients And Provide A Unique Perspective On The Recovery Process.

  • Knowledge Of Substance Abuse Treatment: Candidates Must Have A Strong Understanding Of The Various Treatment Methods And Resources Available For Individuals Struggling With Substance Abuse. This Includes Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Practices And The Ability To Connect Patients With Appropriate Treatment Options.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Peer Recovery Coaches Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Support And Motivate Patients. This Includes Actively Listening, Providing Constructive Feedback, And Maintaining Professional Boundaries.

  • Commitment To Continued Education And Personal Growth: Johns Hopkins Medicine Values Individuals Who Are Committed To Personal Growth And Continuous Education. Candidates Who Demonstrate A Desire To Learn And Develop Their Skills As A Peer Recovery Coach Will Be Highly Considered For The Role.
