  1. Monitor and assess the safety procedures and protocols in the critical care units at Johns Hopkins Medicine to identify any potential risks or hazards.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to improve patient safety in the critical care setting, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  3. Conduct regular audits and reviews of critical care processes and procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  4. Train and educate critical care staff on best practices for patient safety, including infection control, medication safety, and fall prevention.
  5. Act as a resource and support for critical care staff in identifying and addressing patient safety concerns.
  6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety.
  7. Analyze data and trends related to patient safety incidents in the critical care setting and make recommendations for improvement.
  8. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action plans for adverse events in the critical care units.
  9. Stay up-to-date with current patient safety trends, guidelines, and regulations and make recommendations for updates to policies and procedures.
  10. Communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote a culture of safety in the critical care units.
  11. Serve as a liaison between the critical care units and hospital leadership to provide updates on patient safety initiatives and outcomes.
  12. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient safety activities, incident reports, and corrective actions.
  13. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and committees to identify and address patient safety concerns.
  14. Serve as a patient advocate and ensure that patient safety is always a top priority in the critical care setting.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve the patient safety program in the critical care units to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Healthcare And Nursing Principles Is Necessary For A Patient Safety Specialist In Critical Care At Johns Hopkins Medicine.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Critical Care Nursing Experience: A Thorough Understanding Of The Critical Care Setting And Patient Safety Protocols Is Essential For This Role.

  • Certified Professional In Patient Safety (Cpps) Certification: This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise In Patient Safety And Risk Management, Which Is Crucial For A Patient Safety Specialist In Critical Care.
