- Assist patients with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients during their hospital stay.
- Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report any concerns to medical staff.
- Help patients with mobility by transferring them to and from beds or wheelchairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by changing linens, organizing personal belongings, and ensuring rooms are free of hazards.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to create individualized care plans for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, answering questions and addressing any concerns.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of illness.
- Attend trainings and workshops to stay updated on best practices in patient care.
- Uphold the mission and values of Johns Hopkins Medicine by providing exceptional care to patients.
- Show empathy and compassion towards patients and their families, creating a comforting and welcoming environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with the transportation of patients within the hospital.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Aide At Johns Hopkins Medicine Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Candidates With A Cna Certification Are Preferred For The Patient Aide Position As They Have Received Basic Training In Patient Care And Have Passed A Competency Exam.
Experience In Healthcare: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Nursing Home, Hospital, Or Rehabilitation Center, Is Preferred For This Role. This Experience Demonstrates A Candidate's Familiarity With Patient Care And Medical Terminology.
Strong Communication Skills: A Patient Aide Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. This Includes Being Able To Listen Actively And Convey Information Clearly.
Compassionate And Empathetic Attitude: The Role Of A Patient Aide Requires Working With Individuals Who May Be Facing Physical, Emotional, Or Mental Challenges. A Compassionate And Empathetic Attitude Is Essential To Provide Quality Care And Support To Patients.
