As a LAN Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our local area network (LAN) to ensure smooth and efficient communication and data sharing among our staff.   1. Maintain and optimize the local area network (LAN) to ensure efficient and smooth communication and data sharing among staff.
  2. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  3. Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  4. Collaborate with other IT professionals to design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure.
  5. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance network performance.
  6. Provide technical support to end-users and assist with network-related inquiries and issues.
  7. Create and maintain documentation of network configurations and procedures.
  8. Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely resolution of network-related problems.
  9. Conduct regular maintenance and updates to network hardware and software.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operation of the LAN.
  11. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding network usage and security.
  12. Train and educate staff on network protocols and best practices to ensure proper usage and security.
  13. Continuously monitor network traffic and identify potential security threats.
  14. Participate in regular team meetings and provide updates on network performance and any ongoing projects.
  15. Collaborate with other IT professionals to plan and implement network upgrades and expansions.
  16. Maintain a proactive mindset and actively seek out opportunities to improve network performance and efficiency.
  17. Comply with all HIPAA and other relevant regulations and guidelines related to network security and data protection.
  18. Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in network administration and make recommendations for implementation.
  19. Provide on-call support for network-related emergencies.
  20. Uphold the mission and values of Johns Hopkins Medicine in all aspects of the role.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Information Technology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Lan Administration, Preferably In A Healthcare Or Hospital Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Network Protocols, Hardware, And Software, Including Cisco Routers And Switches, Wireless Networks, And Firewalls.

  • Experience With Network Security And Data Protection, Including Implementing And Maintaining Security Policies And Procedures.

  • Excellent Problem-Solving And Troubleshooting Skills, With The Ability To Quickly Identify And Resolve Network Issues.
