
Dietetic Technician (Pediatric)

- Conduct assessments and develop individualized nutrition plans for pediatric patients based on their medical history, dietary needs, and growth and development.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for pediatric patients.
- Educate patients and their families on proper nutrition and healthy eating habits, including meal planning, portion control, and food safety.
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to nutrition plans, in consultation with the healthcare team.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patient nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Stay informed about current research and developments in pediatric nutrition and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans for patients with complex nutrition needs.
- Collaborate with food service staff to ensure that patients receive appropriate meals and snacks according to their dietary requirements.
- Provide support and guidance to parents or caregivers on how to manage their child's nutrition needs at home.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and guidelines related to pediatric nutrition, including those set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Maintain professional competence and actively pursue opportunities for continuing education and professional development.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care and uphold the values and mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
- Foster a positive and compassionate work environment, treating patients and colleagues with empathy, respect, and sensitivity.
- Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy laws and regulations when handling patient information.
- Act as a resource for other healthcare professionals, providing guidance and education on pediatric nutrition as needed.
Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Certification As A Registered Dietetic Technician (Dtr) From The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Dietetic Technician In A Pediatric Setting.
Knowledge Of Pediatric Nutrition Guidelines And Ability To Develop And Implement Individualized Nutrition Plans For Pediatric Patients.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Pediatric Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Team Members.
