Job Description

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are looking for an experienced Clinical Data Abstractor to join our team and play an integral role in the health care system. As a Clinical Data Abstractor, you will be responsible for abstracting clinical data from medical records and coding them according to established standards. You will also provide quality assurance of abstracted data and ensure accuracy and completeness of data.To be successful in this role, you will need a thorough understanding of coding standards and guidelines, as well as excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. You must also have experience in the use of data abstracting and coding software. A Bachelor’s degree in health information management, health sciences, or a related field is required.If you are a detail-oriented and highly organized individual with a passion for data accuracy, this position may be the opportunity you have been seeking. Responsibilities of a Clinical Data Abstractor:

• Abstract clinical data from medical records and code them according to established standards • Provide quality assurance of abstracted data and ensure accuracy and completeness of data • Utilize data abstracting and coding software • Analyze data and identify trends and anomalies • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records • Generate reports and present findings to team members and stakeholders • Monitor coding procedures for accuracy and compliance with regulations • Assist with the development and implementation of coding and abstracting policies and procedures • Stay current with coding updates and trends to ensure accuracy and timely processing of data
