Job Description

Hello and welcome to IKEA! We are currently seeking a talented and creative individual to join our team as a Retail Space Planner. As a global leader in home furnishings and retail, we are dedicated to creating a better everyday life for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and planning the layout of our retail spaces to ensure an optimal shopping experience for our customers.   1. Develop and implement creative and effective retail space plans to enhance the shopping experience for customers.
  2. Collaborate with store managers, merchandising teams, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements for the retail space.
  3. Conduct thorough research and analysis to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in retail space planning.
  4. Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create detailed and accurate floor plans, 3D models, and visual representations of retail spaces.
  5. Conduct site visits and measurements to accurately assess the available space and ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards.
  6. Make recommendations for improvements and updates to the retail space layout to increase sales, improve customer flow, and enhance the overall aesthetic.
  7. Work closely with the procurement team to select and source materials, fixtures, and furniture that align with the overall design concept and budget.
  8. Manage and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of retail space planning projects.
  9. Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including visual merchandisers, store operations, and construction teams.
  10. Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of retail space layouts, making adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
  11. Stay informed about IKEA’s brand and values to ensure that all retail space designs align with the company’s vision and mission.
  12. Adhere to all safety and security protocols and regulations while working on retail space planning projects.
  13. Train and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge in retail space planning.

Job Qualifications
  • Degree In Interior Design Or Related Field: A Retail Space Planner At Ikea Should Possess A Strong Educational Background In Interior Design Or A Related Field To Effectively Plan And Design Retail Spaces.

  • Experience In Space Planning: Ikea Looks For Candidates With Prior Experience In Space Planning, Preferably In A Retail Environment. This Includes Creating Store Layouts, Product Placement, And Optimizing Space Utilization.

  • Knowledge Of Ikea Products And Store Layout: A Strong Understanding Of Ikea's Product Range And Store Layout Is Crucial For A Retail Space Planner At Ikea. This Knowledge Will Ensure That The Planner Can Effectively Incorporate Ikea's Products And Values Into The Store Design.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Retail Space Planners At Ikea Must Be Able To Analyze Data, Trends, And Customer Behavior To Create Efficient And Effective Store Layouts. They Should Also Possess Strong Problem-Solving Skills To Address Any Issues That May Arise During The Planning Process.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: A Retail Space Planner At Ikea Should Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Various Stakeholders, Including Store Managers, Visual Merchandisers, And Product Developers. They Should Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Cross-Functional Teams To Ensure The Success Of The Store Design.
