- Monitor patient vital signs: The primary responsibility of the Monitoring Technician is to continuously monitor the vital signs of patients using monitoring equipment such as EKG machines, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Alert medical staff of changes: The Monitoring Technician must be vigilant in detecting any changes in a patient's vital signs and immediately notify the medical staff to ensure prompt and appropriate care.
- Record and document observations: Accurate and timely documentation of vital signs and any changes is crucial in providing quality patient care. The Monitoring Technician must maintain detailed and organized records of all observations.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols: The Monitoring Technician must follow all safety and infection control protocols to ensure the safety of patients and prevent the spread of infections.
- Maintain equipment: It is the responsibility of the Monitoring Technician to ensure that all monitoring equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide assistance to medical staff: In emergency situations, the Monitoring Technician may be required to assist medical staff with procedures such as CPR or obtaining blood samples.
