Perform phlebotomy procedures by drawing blood from patients using proper techniques and equipment.
Label and process collected specimens accurately and ensure proper documentation.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and infection control.
Verify patient information and educate patients on the phlebotomy procedure.
Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Properly dispose of contaminated supplies and handle biohazardous materials.
Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members to provide exceptional care.
Maintain accurate records and document all procedures performed.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies.
Attend training and educational sessions to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of specimens.
Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to maintain high standards of patient care.
Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
Remain calm and professional in high-stress situations and handle difficult patients with empathy and understanding.

Job Qualifications

Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Technician Training Program: Candidates Must Have Completed A Formal Training Program From An Accredited Institution To Ensure They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For The Job.
National Certification: Candidates Should Have A Current Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) To Demonstrate Their Competency In Phlebotomy.
Knowledge Of Phlebotomy Techniques And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques, Including Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Specimen Collection And Handling, As Well As Knowledge Of Safety Protocols And Infection Control.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Phlebotomy Technicians Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Interact With Patients And Healthcare Professionals, As Well As The Ability To Work Well In A Team And Maintain Patient Confidentiality.
Experience In A Clinical Setting: Previous Experience Working As A Phlebotomy Technician In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting Is Preferred, As It Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment While Maintaining Accuracy And Attention To Detail.
