- Develop and implement strategic underwriting plans to support the overall goals and objectives of Highmark Health and HMIG.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitiveness in the market.
- Oversee the underwriting team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to drive team performance and achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new insurance products and enhance existing ones to meet customer needs and market demands.
- Manage the financial performance of HMIG's insurance products, including setting rates, evaluating risk, and establishing reserves.
- Monitor and analyze underwriting data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, agents, and reinsurers.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication of underwriting decisions and guidelines to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain underwriting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Provide regular reports and presentations to senior management on underwriting performance and strategies.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in underwriting technology and processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the underwriting team.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as actuarial, claims, and sales, to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts.
- Stay abreast of competitive landscape and make recommendations on pricing and product changes to maintain competitiveness.
- Represent Highmark Health and HMIG at industry events and conferences, promoting the company's mission and values.
Extensive Underwriting Experience: A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Underwriting, Preferably In The Healthcare Industry, With A Strong Understanding Of Market Trends, Risk Assessment, And Pricing Strategies.
Strategic Leadership: Proven Ability To Develop And Implement Underwriting Strategies That Align With The Company's Overall Goals And Objectives. Strong Leadership Skills To Guide And Motivate A Team Of Underwriters.
Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations: In-Depth Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance Requirements, Including But Not Limited To Aca, Medicare, And Medicaid. Ability To Ensure Underwriting Practices Are In Accordance With All Regulatory Bodies.
Analytical Skills: Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills To Evaluate Complex Data And Make Sound Underwriting Decisions. Ability To Identify Trends, Patterns, And Potential Risks To Inform Pricing And Risk Management Strategies.
Communication And Relationship Building: Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Internal Teams, External Partners, And Clients. Proven Ability To Build And Maintain Strong Relationships With Key Stakeholders.
