Welcome to Highmark Health! We are currently seeking a highly organized and personable individual to join our team as a Unit Secretary for our Postpartum/Newborn Nursery unit. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing administrative support to our unit, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of daily tasks.   1. Greet and welcome patients, families, and visitors to the Postpartum/Newborn Nursery unit with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  2. Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions with empathy and compassion.
  3. Answer phones, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.
  4. Assist in the admission and discharge process by completing necessary paperwork, verifying insurance information, and coordinating with other departments.
  5. Schedule appointments and procedures for patients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  6. Coordinate and maintain unit supplies, including ordering and restocking as needed.
  7. Update and maintain patient records and charts, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  8. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including nurses, physicians, and other support staff.
  9. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks, including filing, data entry, and other administrative duties.
  10. Participate in unit meetings and huddles, providing input and suggestions for improving processes and patient care.
  11. Monitor inventory levels and report any discrepancies or issues to management.
  12. Collaborate with other unit secretaries and staff to ensure seamless communication and workflow.
  13. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized unit, including patient rooms and common areas.
  14. Attend trainings and workshops to stay updated on hospital policies and procedures.
  15. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
