1. Provide high-quality and compassionate care to new mothers and their newborns in the Postpartum & Newborn Nursery unit.
2. Assess and monitor the health status of both mother and baby, including vital signs, feeding patterns, and any potential complications.
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
4. Educate new mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding, newborn care, and any other necessary information.
5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and efficient care.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
7. Respond to and manage any emergency situations that may arise.
8. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
9. Monitor and maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and their families.
10. Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in maternal and newborn care.
11. Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients and their families.
12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and legal standards.
13. Serve as a role model for other staff members in providing exceptional patient care.
14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall patient experience.
15. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of Highmark Health and the nursing profession.
