- Provide high-quality and compassionate care to patients before and after gastrointestinal procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for patients.
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans based on their condition and procedure.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the physician.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Educate patients and their families on post-procedure care and provide necessary resources and support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.

Education And Licensure: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing And Active Rn Licensure In The State Of Employment Is Required. Additional Certifications In Gastroenterology Nursing Are Preferred.
Clinical Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Recent Clinical Experience In A Hospital Or Ambulatory Care Setting, With A Focus On Pre And Post Gi Procedures, Is Required. Experience In Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, And Sedation Administration Is Highly Desirable.
Knowledge Of Gi Procedures: Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Gastroenterology Procedures, Such As Colonoscopies, Upper Gi Endoscopies, And Ercps, Is Required. This Includes An Understanding Of Equipment Used, Sedation Protocols, And Potential Complications.
Patient Care Skills: The Ability To Provide Compassionate And Competent Care To Patients Undergoing Gi Procedures Is Essential. This Includes Assessing Patients, Administering Medications, Monitoring Vital Signs, And Providing Patient Education And Support.
Communication And Teamwork: Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Necessary To Effectively Collaborate With The Multidisciplinary Team, Including Physicians, Anesthesiologists, And Other Nurses. The Ability To Work Well In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment Is Also Crucial.
