  1. Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  3. Monitor patient vitals and assess for any changes or complications during procedures.
  4. Administer medications and treatment as prescribed by the physician.
  5. Educate patients and their families about their procedure, post-procedure care, and any necessary lifestyle changes.
  6. Document all patient care and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  7. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  8. Act as a patient advocate and ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.
  9. Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and intervene in emergency situations.
  10. Mentor and orient new staff to the GI Lab department.
  11. Stay current on the latest advancements and best practices in GI nursing.
  12. Maintain professional and ethical standards at all times.
  13. Uphold the values and mission of Highmark Health in all interactions.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  15. Continuously strive to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse Position In A Gi Lab At Highmark Health. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory, Practice, And Leadership Skills.

  • Active Rn License: All Candidates Must Have An Active And Unrestricted Registered Nurse License In The State Where They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Qualified And Authorized To Provide Patient Care In The Gi Lab Setting.

  • Gi Lab Experience: Highmark Health Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Gi Lab Setting. This Experience Will Help The Nurse To Quickly Adapt To The Specialized Environment And Provide Quality Care To Patients.

  • Bls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification Is Required For All Registered Nurses At Highmark Health. This Certification Ensures That The Nurse Is Trained In Cpr And Other Life-Saving Techniques, Which Are Essential Skills In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Registered Nurses At Highmark Health Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Team Members. They Must Also Have Strong Critical Thinking Skills To Assess And Respond To Patient Needs In A Fast-Paced Environment.
