  1. Collect blood samples from patients in a safe and professional manner.
  2. Ensure accuracy and proper labeling of all specimens.
  3. Follow proper protocols and procedures for blood collection and handling.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate any fears or concerns.
  6. Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate specimen collection.
  7. Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
  8. Keep accurate records of all specimens collected.
  9. Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  12. Continuously update knowledge and skills through ongoing training and education.
  13. Troubleshoot any issues that may arise during specimen collection.
  14. Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies.
  15. Adhere to all policies and procedures of Highmark Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification Or License: A Phlebotomist Must Be Certified Or Licensed In Phlebotomy By An Accredited Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Training And Education: Highmark Health Requires A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent, As Well As Completion Of A Phlebotomy Training Program From An Accredited Institution. Additional Coursework In Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Physiology Is Preferred.

  • Experience: Highmark Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Phlebotomy. Experience With Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Blood Collection Equipment Is Highly Desired.

  • Attention To Detail: A Phlebotomist Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate Patient Identification, Proper Sample Collection And Labeling, And Adherence To Safety Protocols. They Must Also Be Able To Accurately Document And Record Patient Information.

  • Interpersonal Skills: As A Phlebotomist, You Will Interact With Patients Of All Ages And Backgrounds. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Providing A Positive And Comfortable Experience For Patients During The Blood Collection Process.
