  1. Perform blood draws and collect other specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Label and process all samples accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.
  4. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
  5. Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner to ease any fears or concerns.
  6. Communicate effectively with healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection.
  7. Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of all samples collected.
  8. Troubleshoot any issues or discrepancies with samples and take appropriate action.
  9. Follow all HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  10. Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for phlebotomy techniques.
  11. Attend trainings and workshops to improve skills and knowledge.
  12. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phone calls.
  13. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  14. Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain accuracy of results.
  15. Continuously strive for excellence in patient care and customer service.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program: The Candidate Should Possess A Certificate Or Degree From A Recognized Phlebotomy Training Program.

  • State Certification Or Licensure: Highmark Health Requires All Phlebotomists To Hold A Current State Certification Or Licensure. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Minimum Requirements For Knowledge And Skill In The Field.

  • Previous Experience: Highmark Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques And Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Safety And Infection Control Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety And Infection Control Procedures To Ensure The Safety Of Patients And Staff.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Phlebotomist, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Providing A Positive Patient Experience.
