  1. Assist surgeons and nurses in the operating room by preparing equipment and supplies, positioning patients, and providing any necessary support during procedures.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff.
  3. Follow all safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent the spread of disease and ensure a sterile environment.
  4. Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  5. Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to medical staff.
  6. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients before, during, and after procedures.
  7. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and maintain a positive and supportive environment for patients.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve knowledge and skills.
  9. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  10. Contribute to Highmark Health's mission of improving the health and wellbeing of our community by providing exceptional patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Ged: A Minimum Educational Requirement For An Operating Room Aide Position At Highmark Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Perform The Job Duties Effectively.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: It Is Preferred That Candidates Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Operating Room. This Experience Can Include Working As A Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Or Other Similar Roles.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Necessary For An Operating Room Aide To Effectively Communicate With Healthcare Professionals And Accurately Follow Instructions.

  • Ability To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures: Operating Room Aides Are Responsible For Following Strict Protocols And Procedures To Ensure A Safe And Sterile Environment In The Operating Room. Candidates Must Have The Ability To Follow These Protocols And Maintain A High Level Of Attention To Detail.

  • Physical Stamina And Dexterity: This Role Requires Standing For Long Periods, Lifting And Moving Patients, And Assisting With Various Tasks In The Operating Room. Candidates Should Have Good Physical Stamina And Dexterity To Perform These Tasks Efficiently And Safely.
