
Histology Technician
Highmark Health is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Histology Technician to join our team. If you have a passion for medical laboratory technology and a commitment to providing superior patient care, we want to hear from you!The Histology Technician will provide technical assistance in the preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of histological techniques, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care.To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology or a related field. Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and advanced histological techniques are also essential. Above all, you should be a collaborative and highly organized professional with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform histological laboratory procedures such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting.
- Perform laboratory tests and analysis of tissue specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
- Ensure the quality of test results and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure effective operation of the laboratory.
- Provide superior customer service to patients and other healthcare providers.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise in the laboratory.
- Maintain a safe and secure laboratory environment.
- Keep up to date with advances in histology and medical laboratory technology.
