Job Description

Are you an experienced coder looking for a rewarding position in a fast-paced inpatient setting? Highmark Health is looking for a professional Coder - Inpatient to join our team! We seek an individual with a passion for coding and a commitment to accuracy, who is excited to be part of a high-quality team. In this role, you will be responsible for coding medical records for inpatients using ICD-10-CM codes. To be successful in this position, you should have an extensive knowledge of coding principles and regulations, as well as a good understanding of anatomy and physiology. We are seeking an individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills who is also highly detail-oriented and able to work independently.Required Qualifications:• High School diploma or equivalent• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P)• Experience with ICD-10-CM• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology• Excellent communication and organizational skills• Strong attention to detail• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  1. Code medical records for inpatients using ICD-10-CM codes.
  2. Maintain accuracy and comply with coding principles and regulations.
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  5. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  6. Remain detail-oriented and able to work independently.
  7. Identify discrepancies in coding and take appropriate action.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
