  1. Administer radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients according to prescribed protocols and treatment plans.
  2. Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
  3. Monitor and document patient progress and any adverse reactions to treatment, communicating with physicians and other healthcare team members as needed.
  4. Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process, including potential side effects and ways to manage them.
  5. Ensure patient safety by following radiation safety procedures and regulations, including appropriate use of protective equipment.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  8. Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, including equipment maintenance and performance testing.
  9. Continuously update knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities and stay informed about new technologies and techniques in radiation therapy.
  10. Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients and their families, providing emotional support and assistance throughout their treatment journey.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring clear understanding of treatment plans and addressing any concerns or questions.
  12. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  13. Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are considered in all aspects of their care.
  14. Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with colleagues and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
  15. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for patients and staff.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Radiation Therapy Or Related Field: A Formal Education In Radiation Therapy Is Typically Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Techniques Of Radiation Therapy.

  • Certification By The American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt): This Nationally Recognized Certification Is Required By Most States And Employers For Radiation Therapists. It Demonstrates The Candidate's Competency And Adherence To Professional Standards.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Previous Work Experience In A Radiation Therapy Clinic Or Hospital Is Highly Desirable. It Shows That The Candidate Has Hands-On Experience In Administering Radiation Treatments And Working With Patients.

  • Knowledge Of Radiation Safety Protocols: As Radiation Therapists Are Responsible For Operating Complex Equipment And Administering Radiation Treatments, They Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety Protocols To Protect Themselves, Patients, And Others From Unnecessary Exposure.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Radiation Therapists Work Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
