Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Polysomnographic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and help diagnose and treat sleep disorders in our patients.   1. Conduct sleep studies: Perform overnight polysomnograms to monitor and record patients' brain waves, heart rate, breathing, and other physiological functions during sleep.
  2. Administer and interpret diagnostic tests: Conduct diagnostic tests, such as the Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) and the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), and interpret results to identify sleep disorders.
  3. Monitor patients during sleep: Monitor patients' vital signs and reactions during sleep studies, and make adjustments to equipment as necessary.
  4. Maintain equipment: Ensure all sleep study equipment is properly set up and functioning correctly, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  5. Educate patients: Explain the procedures and answer any questions patients may have about the sleep study, and provide instructions on how to use equipment for home sleep studies.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients with sleep disorders.
  7. Document and report findings: Record and maintain accurate documentation of all sleep study results and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
  8. Ensure patient comfort and safety: Monitor patients' comfort and safety throughout the sleep study, and provide assistance and support as needed.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols: Follow all safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  10. Keep up-to-date with industry developments: Stay informed on advancements in sleep study technology and techniques, and continuously update knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities.
  11. Maintain patient confidentiality: Respect and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  12. Demonstrate professionalism: Exhibit a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times when interacting with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Uphold hospital standards: Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, and uphold the mission and values of Henry Ford Health System.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives: Contribute to quality improvement efforts by identifying areas

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (Cpsgt) Or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Rpsgt) Credential From The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience In A Sleep Center Or Related Healthcare Field.

  • Knowledge Of Sleep Study Procedures And Equipment, Including Eeg, Eog, Emg, And Respiratory Monitoring.

  • Ability To Interpret And Analyze Sleep Study Data, Identify Abnormalities, And Communicate Findings To Physicians.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced Environment.
