In this role, you will play a key role in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.   1. Conduct sleep studies: Perform overnight polysomnograms and multiple sleep latency tests to diagnose and monitor sleep disorders.
  2. Set up and calibrate equipment: Prepare and test equipment for sleep studies, ensuring proper functioning and accuracy.
  3. Monitor patients during sleep studies: Observe patients during sleep studies, adjusting equipment as needed to obtain accurate data.
  4. Score and analyze data: Interpret data collected during sleep studies and accurately score results according to established guidelines.
  5. Educate patients: Explain sleep study procedures, answer questions, and provide instructions for proper use of equipment.
  6. Communicate with healthcare team: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients with sleep disorders.
  7. Maintain records: Keep detailed and accurate records of patient information, sleep study data, and equipment maintenance.
  8. Ensure patient safety: Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or complications during sleep studies and take appropriate action.
  9. Keep up-to-date with industry knowledge: Stay informed about new developments and advancements in sleep medicine and maintain current knowledge of best practices.
  10. Adhere to protocols and policies: Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent results.
  11. Maintain equipment: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives: Contribute to quality improvement efforts by identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  13. Provide excellent patient care: Ensure patients are comfortable and have a positive experience during sleep studies, demonstrating compassion and empathy.
  14. Adhere to confidentiality policies: Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information.
  15. Attend training and meetings: Participate in ongoing training and attend meetings to stay informed about job-related updates and changes.

Job Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree Or Certification In Polysomnography: Candidates For This Job Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Polysomnography And Obtained Either An Associate's Degree Or Certification In The Field.

  • Experience In Sleep Disorder Testing And Treatment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Practical Experience In Conducting Sleep Studies, Interpreting Results, And Providing Treatment Recommendations For Patients With Sleep Disorders.

  • Knowledge Of Sleep Disorder Equipment And Technology: As A Polysomnographic Technician, The Candidate Should Be Familiar With Various Types Of Sleep Disorder Testing Equipment And Have The Ability To Troubleshoot Technical Issues That May Arise During Sleep Studies.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Important For This Job As The Technician Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Provide Accurate And Timely Sleep Disorder Testing And Treatment.

  • Ability To Work Flexible Hours And Manage Multiple Tasks: The Job Of A Polysomnographic Technician May Require Working Overnight And On Weekends, Therefore, The Candidate Should Be Willing And Able To Work Flexible Hours. They Should Also Have Good Time-Management Skills To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment.
