  1. Perform diagnostic imaging physics services: As a Physicist specializing in Diagnostic Radiology, your primary responsibility will be to perform diagnostic imaging physics services, including equipment calibration, quality assurance, and radiation safety testing.
  2. Ensure safe and accurate use of radiation: You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate use of radiation in all diagnostic imaging procedures. This includes monitoring radiation levels, developing and implementing safety protocols, and providing radiation safety training to staff.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team: You will work closely with radiologists, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure the quality and accuracy of diagnostic imaging procedures. This may involve consulting with physicians on imaging protocols and providing technical support for complex cases.
  4. Maintain equipment: As a Physicist, you will be responsible for maintaining and calibrating all diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting any equipment issues and coordinating repairs as needed.
  5. Stay up-to-date on industry developments: You will be expected to stay current on the latest developments and advancements in diagnostic imaging physics, including new equipment and techniques. This will require attending conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulations: You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations related to the use of radiation in diagnostic imaging. This includes maintaining accurate records and conducting audits to ensure compliance.
  7. Participate in research and development: You may be involved in research and development projects related to diagnostic imaging physics. This could include collaborating with other physicists, conducting experiments, and publishing findings in scientific journals.
  8. Train and mentor staff: You will be responsible for training and mentoring technologists and other staff members on radiation safety protocols, equipment use, and other aspects of diagnostic imaging physics.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Education And Training: A Physicist Working In Diagnostic Radiology At Henry Ford Health System Should Have A Strong Educational Background In Physics, With At Least A Master's Degree And Preferably A Ph.d. In Medical Physics Or A Related Field. They Should Also Have Completed A Medical Physics Residency Program Accredited By The Commission On Accreditation Of Medical Physics Educational Programs (Campep).

  • Experience In Medical Imaging: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Medical Imaging Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare System. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Various Imaging Modalities Such As X-Ray, Mri, Ct, And Ultrasound, As Well As Experience With Quality Assurance And Calibration Of Imaging Equipment.

  • Knowledge Of Radiation Safety And Regulations: As A Part Of Their Job Responsibilities, A Physicist In Diagnostic Radiology At Henry Ford Health System Will Be Responsible For Ensuring The Safe Use Of Radiation In Medical Imaging. Therefore, They Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Radiation Safety Regulations, Such As Those Set By The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Nrc) And The Joint Commission.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: A Physicist In Diagnostic Radiology At Henry Ford Health System Should Possess Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills To Troubleshoot And Resolve Technical Issues Related To Medical Imaging Equipment. They Should Also Be Able To Analyze And Interpret Complex Data And Make Recommendations For Improving Imaging Quality And Efficiency.

  • Communication And Teamwork: Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential For A Physicist In Diagnostic Radiology At Henry Ford Health System. They Will Be Working Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Radiologists, Physicians, And Technologists, To Ensure The Accurate And Timely Delivery Of Diagnostic Images. Therefore, They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate Technical Information To Non-Technical Individuals And Work Well In A Team Setting.
