Physician Financial Counselor

1. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families by welcoming them to the Henry Ford Health System and addressing their financial concerns with empathy and understanding.
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for patients in regards to their medical bills and insurance coverage, and proactively communicate with patients to ensure they understand their financial responsibility.
3. Review and verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and assist patients with completing necessary paperwork to ensure timely and accurate billing.
4. Educate patients on available financial assistance programs and resources, and assist in completing applications as needed.
5. Collaborate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to resolve billing and payment issues and advocate for patients' financial needs.
6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, financial agreements, and insurance information.
7. Monitor and track patient accounts, and follow up with patients and insurance companies to ensure timely and accurate payments.
8. Stay up-to-date on insurance policies, billing procedures, and financial assistance programs to provide accurate and informed guidance to patients.
9. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and ensure the confidentiality of patient information at all times.
10. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed on departmental processes and procedures, and contribute ideas for improving the patient financial counseling process.
11. Collaborate with other departments within the healthcare system, such as billing and collections, to ensure a seamless and efficient patient experience.
12. Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent patient care and promoting the mission and values of the Henry Ford Health System.
