Welcome to Henry Ford Health System! We are currently seeking a skilled Perfusion Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Perfusion Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our perfusionists during surgical procedures, ensuring the safe and efficient use of cardiopulmonary bypass equipment.   1. Assist perfusionists during surgical procedures, including the set-up, monitoring, and troubleshooting of cardiopulmonary bypass equipment.
  2. Ensure the safe and efficient use of perfusion equipment, following established protocols and procedures.
  3. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room, adhering to infection control and safety guidelines.
  4. Prepare and test all necessary equipment and supplies prior to surgery, ensuring they are functioning properly.
  5. Monitor and record patient data during procedures, including vital signs, blood flow and oxygen levels.
  6. Anticipate and respond to potential complications during surgery, such as changes in blood pressure or oxygen saturation.
  7. Collaborate with the surgical team to provide optimal patient care and support.
  8. Assist with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to perfusion procedures and patient care.
  10. Follow all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, to ensure the highest level of patient safety and care.
  11. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on perfusion techniques and advancements in technology.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  13. Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  14. Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and protect patient information at all times.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve upon perfusion procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Cardiovascular Technology Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Perfusion Assistant From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp).

  • At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Cardiac Surgery Or Perfusion Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Basic Cardiac Anatomy And Physiology, As Well As The Principles Of Cardiopulmonary Bypass And Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo).

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced Environment.
