- Assist optometrists in providing comprehensive eye exams to patients.
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for patients, making them feel comfortable and at ease during their visit.
- Greet patients, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments.
- Collect and record patient information and medical history accurately.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception.
- Instruct patients on the proper use and care of contact lenses.
- Assist with contact lens fittings and ordering.
- Educate patients on proper eye health and care, including contact lens hygiene, eyewear options, and potential eye conditions.
- Maintain and update patient records and ensure confidentiality.
- Handle insurance and billing processes accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality and coordinated patient care.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For An Optometric Assistant Position At Henry Ford Health System Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Having Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In An Optometry Office, Is Highly Desirable For This Position. This Shows That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Daily Operations And Procedures Of An Optometric Office.
