  1. Conduct laboratory tests and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Ensure proper handling and processing of specimens.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting and performing quality control checks.
  4. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  5. Analyze and interpret test results, and report any abnormal findings.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results and patient information.
  8. Continuously monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
  9. Stay up-to-date with advancements and developments in the field of medical laboratory science.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with implementing new procedures and protocols.
  11. Train and mentor new laboratory staff.
  12. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  15. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field: A Mls At Henry Ford Health System Must Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp): This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Education And Experience Requirements, And Has Passed A National Board Exam.

  • Excellent Understanding Of Laboratory Techniques And Procedures: A Mls At Henry Ford Health System Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Techniques And Procedures, Including Equipment Operation, Specimen Handling, And Quality Control.

  • Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills: Mlss Are Responsible For Analyzing And Interpreting Complex Laboratory Data, So It Is Important That They Possess Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills To Accurately Interpret Results And Troubleshoot Potential Issues.

  • Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting Is Preferred For A Mls Role At Henry Ford Health System. This Experience Helps The Candidate Understand The Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment Of A Hospital Laboratory And Ensures They Are Familiar With The Necessary Protocols And Procedures.
