  1. Lead the infection prevention team and oversee their daily activities.
  2. Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and guidelines.
  3. Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  4. Stay up-to-date with current best practices and emerging trends in infection prevention and control.
  5. Work closely with healthcare providers to educate them on infection control measures and promote a culture of infection prevention.
  6. Monitor and analyze infection data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the healthcare facility and local, state, and federal health agencies regarding infection prevention and control.
  8. Develop and conduct training programs for staff on infection control measures.
  9. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
  10. Collaborate with the Quality and Patient Safety department to monitor and improve patient outcomes related to infections.
  11. Serve as a resource for infection control expertise and guidance for all departments within the healthcare facility.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to infection prevention and control.
  13. Serve as a role model for infection control practices and promote a culture of safety among staff.
  14. Stay informed on new developments and technologies in infection prevention and make recommendations for their implementation.
  15. Collaborate with other healthcare facilities to share best practices and strategies for infection prevention.
  16. Represent the healthcare facility in infection control committees and conferences.
  17. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements related to infection control.
  18. Participate in the development and management of the infection prevention budget.
  19. Mentor and guide infection prevention staff and provide opportunities for their professional development.
  20. Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and quality of care through infection prevention initiatives.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Medical Director - Infection Prevention At Henry Ford Health System Must Have A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of Infectious Diseases And Can Make Informed Decisions Related To Infection Prevention.

  • Board Certification In Infectious Diseases: Candidates For This Role Should Be Board Certified In Infectious Diseases. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise And Knowledge In Preventing And Managing Infections.

  • Leadership Skills: As A Medical Director, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Infection Prevention Specialists.   • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: The Medical Director - Infection Prevention Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory Requirements Related To Infection Prevention, Including Those From The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (Cdc), The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha), And The Joint Commission. This Knowledge Will Ensure That The Health System Is In Compliance With All Regulations And Standards Related To Infection Prevention.
