- Oversee the reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to industry standards and hospital policies.
- Lead a team of surgical reprocessing technicians and provide guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
- Develop and implement protocols and procedures for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment, and ensure all staff members are adhering to them.
- Monitor inventory levels of surgical instruments and equipment and coordinate with supply chain management to ensure necessary supplies are always available.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and instruments to identify any potential issues or concerns, and take appropriate action to address them.
- Collaborate with other surgical team members, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, to ensure a seamless and safe surgical experience for patients.
- Maintain accurate records of all reprocessing activities, including tracking and documenting instrument maintenance and repair.
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and advancements in surgical reprocessing techniques and equipment, and integrate new technologies and best practices into the department.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA standards, infection control guidelines, and hospital policies.
- Serve as a role model for excellence in patient care, professionalism, and teamwork, and promote a positive work culture within the surgical reprocessing department.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Surgical Reprocessing: Candidates For This Position Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Surgical Reprocessing Setting, With A Strong Knowledge Of Sterile Processing Techniques And Equipment.
Certification In Sterile Processing: A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm), Is Required For This Position.
Strong Understanding Of Infection Control Protocols: As A Leader In Surgical Reprocessing, The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Infection Control Protocols And Best Practices To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients And Staff.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Strong Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Mentor Team Members, As Well As Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals.
Knowledge Of Regulatory Standards And Guidelines: The Leader In This Role Must Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Regulatory Standards And Guidelines Related To Surgical Reprocessing, Including Those Set By Organizations Such As The Joint Commission And Osha.
