- Greet and welcome patients to the laboratory, providing a warm and friendly environment.
- Collect and process patient specimens for testing, following proper procedures and protocols.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when collecting and labeling specimens.
- Communicate with patients to ensure they are comfortable and informed throughout the specimen collection process.
- Coordinate with other members of the laboratory team to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
- Keep accurate records of specimen collection and processing, including patient information and test orders.
- Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment, ordering and restocking as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency in laboratory operations.
- Keep up to date with new procedures and techniques in specimen collection and processing.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Remain professional and compassionate when working with patients who may be anxious or uncomfortable.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other laboratory staff to provide the best possible care for patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned by laboratory management.
Completion Of A Phlebotomy Training Program: Candidates Must Have Completed A Formal Phlebotomy Training Program And Obtained A Certificate Or Diploma In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution.
Certification: Candidates Must Be Certified As A Phlebotomist By A Recognized Certification Body, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Experience: Preferably, Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Healthcare Setting, With A Demonstrated Proficiency In Specimen Collection And Handling.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Safety: Candidates Should Have A Working Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures, Including Proper Specimen Collection Techniques And Handling, As Well As Knowledge Of Safety Protocols To Prevent The Spread Of Infectious Diseases.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Successful Candidate For This Position Should Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Interact With Patients In A Professional And Compassionate Manner, As Well As To Collaborate Effectively With Other Healthcare Professionals In A Team Setting.
